Darren Douglas

Darren has been an Indy fan since he was 9 years old and first saw the trailer on TV, where he was sure they cut from the leap from the path of the boulder to the fall in front of the cobra, causing Darren much indignation when he finally saw the film at the cinema, as he thought the film had been cut. Nonetheless the film absolutely mesmerized him,  he took his toy 6 shooter and plastic cowboy hat and cut a length of his dad’s spool of ‘borrowed’ British Telecom rope from the shed to fashion a bullwhip and went adventuring… within a 20 yard radius of the house.

The movie Raiders of the Lost Ark was an absolute gift to a 9 year old and it keeps on giving to Darren, even now at age 47. Now he finds himself working in video games and occasionally side stepping into the world of professional comics while making wholly unprofessional comics at home.

His personal obsession has resulted in his own Indy epic, a fan comic that took 6 years of spare time to complete yet still didn’t tarnish his love of seeing that bullwhip cracking. For the auction piece Darren couldn’t resist paying homage to his 2nd favourite Indy flick after Raiders: Temple of Doom on it’s 30th anniversary. He chose to illustrate that moment briefly mentioned in the film when fate, luck and desperation brought 2 lovable rogues together.
